There have been many Jaguar based specials built over the years, but when Kougar cars were founded in 1979 the idea was to build a bespoke sports car with a unique identity all of its own. The styling was a mixture of different styles, as the founder Rick Stevens had a particular fondness of the Frazer Nash TT and Healey Silverstone. The resulting cars have a very distinctive look, coupled with Jaguar running gear and the built proof Jaguar six cylinder engine. Kougars’ are not only exhilarating to drive but are well respected as a manufacturer in their own right as some 200 of the original design have been built.
This particular example is rather special, as it is an early Mk1 version and constructed by the factory as their demonstrator. It is based on a 1967 Jaguar and also registered as a Jaguar Kougar Mk1 on a Belgian numberplate. It has some very special features like original Jaguar wire wheels, a lowered windscreen, bespoke front grille in the style of the fifties HWM racecars and a tweaked 3,8 litre engine. This is a very spectacular sportscar which looks absolutely stunning from any angle. Driving this beast is quite an experience, as it is the purest form of motoring with stunning performance and a glorious soundtrack. The Kougar has been well maintained and is extensively documented.
If you like classic sportscar looks and proper driving thrills, than this is a car you should try. It will put a grin on your face from the moment the starter button is pushed !
