The Lotus Elan is one of those classic race cars that rewards smart driving. Using finesse to carry as much speed through corners as possible is how it beats cars like the Shelby Cobra and Jaguar E-Type in historic racing events today. That's how the 26R, the racing variant of the little Elan, earned the nickname "Mongoose" : because it was known for eating Cobra's for breakfast.... Like all Lotuses, the 26R values low weight over power. In this 26R specification, the Elan has 160+ bhp for an homologated weight of only 580 kg. A very promising power to weight ratio.

This car is from the first series, and for that reason eligible for every pre-1965 event. We bought the car as a used historic racecar, and rebuilt it from scratch and to full 26R specification. The Elan has the lightweight body, magnesium TTR wheels with center lock, full race suspension and brakes set-up and that fantastic twin cam engine. All parts are supplied by Tony Thompson Racing and the car looks absolutely stunning in its Royal Blue livery. Seats, harnesses, rollcage, fuel tank and fire extinguisher are all new and of course FIA approved. As the car has a road registration, we have fitted two Tillett race seats as this Lotus can also be used for road events like Tour Auto. A brand new FIA HTP Appendix K is in process and will come with the car.
