This Jaguar XK140 SE Open Two Seater must be one of the best on this planet. Matching nrs car with original C-Type head from new, finished in one of the most beautiful classic Jaguar colours : Indigo Blue. Completely restored by XK Developments (John May) in 1998 under supervision from Philip Porter.
This car also features in Philip Porters book "Original Jaguar XK". Everything made to better-then-new condition, including full retrim with period bucket seats. It has a new tonneau cover, hood and sidescreens in matching blue mohair. Body and chassis are rustproofed in warm wax-oil. The engine is fully revised, with lightened and balanced pistons plus grade 2 reprofiled camshafts. 2 x 2" SU Carburettors with manual choke. In the meantime, the valvebeds were hardened for use of leadfree petrol.
In 2005, the engine is further improved by Guy Broad, with grade 4 (D-Type spec) camshafts and racing exhaust manifolds. Also some sound deadening material is removed for a fruitier exhaust note. It has a high efficiency radiator (50% more cels / area) and an aluminium racing expansion tank. The old Moss box was replaced by a more modern 5-speed Getrag gearbox, and the dynamo changed to alternator.
For the purists : the original gearbox comes with the car, as well as the dynamo and original camshafts and exhaust manifolds. This XK drives on 72-spoke Dayton wheels in the size 6x16, fitted with Pirelli P4000 tyres. Inside the car, the previous owner fitted a walnut dash centre and a very expensive tailormade 4-spoke steering wheel in aluminium and wood - similar to the Jaguar C-type wheel.
This XK140 is so impressive in every way : great to drive, fantastic to listen to, and marvellous to look at. One visit to our showroom to sample this magical car will confirm
all the above....
