The Mercedes 190 SL (R121) was introduced at the 1954 New York Auto Show, as an attractive and more affordable alternative to the exclusive 300 SL Roadster. It was based on the small saloon W121, and shared the basic styling, engineering and fully independent suspension with its exclusive 300 SL brother. The engine was a 1,9 litre 4-cilinder unit, based on the 300 SL's straigt six, and fitted with twin-choke dual Solex carburettors producing 105 bhp. Mercedes-Benz built 25.881 units of this popular roadster between 1955 and 1963, and it is still one of the most beautiful cars they ever made.

This particular example was originally delivered in Germany. Being a European version, it came with the third childseat in the back, as this was not allowed on the Federal cars. It is a fantastic car, which was finished last year after a ground-up restoration. The car is in immaculate condition, and feels like it just left the factory. The colour combination is probably one of the best for a 190 SL, and the fit and finish of this Mercedes-Benz is from a very high level as you should expect from a car wearing the three-pointed star.
