The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette was a completely new design, and had nothing to do with the previous versions. It came with independent rear suspension, and a range of 327 ci. V8 engines offering from 250 bhp up to 360 bhp for the fuel injected version. The car was available with 3-speed and 4-speed manual gearboxes, and of course a powerglide automatic gearbox. Two body versions were available : a coupé version with the (MY1963 only) split rear window and a roadster version. Total production for MY1963 was 21.513 units (10.594 Coupés, 10.919 Convertibles), which makes it quite a rare car.
This example was imported from California in 2010 in restored condition. It is finished in its original colour combination of Ermine White (colour code 936A) with Saddle leather seats (trim code 898F) and a beige softtop (code BG). The car has some desirable factory options : 4-speed gearbox, original hardtop and beautiful cast aluminium knock-off wheels. It looks and sounds gorgeous, and is a pleasure to drive. The Corvette has a Belgian registration, and has just received a full service including brake overhaul.
A Corvette from 1963 is an American design icon, and a sought after classic sportscar with the right looks and a powerful engine. These cars have proper race pedigree, and are still a lot of value for the money. Who dares to be slightly different ?
