The Jaguar Mk2 is still one of the most beautiful saloon cars ever made. Introduced in late 1959, it was the improved successor of the Jaguar Mk1, with bigger windows and a wider rear track. Also the interior was rather different compared to the Mk1, with different front seats and completely restyled dashboard. The Jaguar Mk2 remains the one and only original sport saloon, offering great style and a choice of big straight six engines.
This example was owned by a highly respected classic car dealer in Denmark. He bought the car for himself, and got it restored following his own beloved specification and colour combination. It is a desirable 3,4 Litre version with manual overdrive, originally delivered in 1962 by the Danish Jaguar importer E. Sommer to its first owner. It is now restored to better than original specification. The colour combination of gleaming Pacific Blue with a full leather interior in Biscuit is absolutely stunning, and the quality of the restoration is highly visible in the shine of the paintwork and the perfect shutlines. The walnut panels in the interior are immaculate and of a quality level comparable to Rolls-Royce. Engine and gearbox are completely overhauled, and this power unit offers an effortless driving experience. All chromed parts are absolutely faultless, and the overall qualtity level of this Jaguar Mk2 is of a very high standard. Saying that it is probably one of the best examples on the market is not an exageration...
Together with the car comes a huge file with invoices of the restoration, and the sum of these invoices exceeds the asking price for this pristine example in a huge way !
As a summary, it is almost like a factory fresh Mk2, but better. The smooth and powerful 3,4 Litre engine is a delight to use and hear, and offers an exhilarating driving experience. Inside, you sit in the most luxurious interior with soft leather seats and impeccable woodwork. A real gentlemen's club on wheels, and now available for a fraction of the build cost. Without doubt, this Jaguar Mk2 won't disappoint the most demanding classic car enthusiast.
