A genuine round-tube Ginetta G4 is a very competitive car in historic racing. It is extremely fast due to its lightweight construction, and it sticks to the road and corners even better then many Lotus racecars. We found this fantastic car in Denmark, where it was used for historic hillclimb racing. It is equiped with a 1700 ccm Ford Crossflow engine, with dry sump, accralite forged pistons and an A6 camshaft. It has a stage III head, treated and balanced conrods and a lightened flywheel. The power is approximately 150 bhp, for a weight of 465 kg ! The engine breaths through twin Weber 45mm carburettors, and has a 4-in-1 exhaust system. The gearbox is a Ford Cortina close ratio box in combination with a Ford Anglia rear differential. Gearbox ratios are 2,51/1,64/1,24/1,00, and the diff ratio is 3,54. It has adjustable Spax shock absorbers, front disc brakes with Girling 14LF calipers and rear drum brakes.
Together with the car comes another engine : the original 997 cc unit. This is completely rebuilt for racing at a cost exceeding 9.000 EUR, and with this engine the car can obtain FIA papers. We also have the necessary FIA conform rear axle and a factory hardtop. These little cars are sought after by racing enthousiasts, as the G4 is a front runner in its category on each race track. Early round-tube G4's are rare, and do not come often on the market. This is a chance to obtain a fully prepared example for a reasonable price, and a great entry ticket into the increasingly popular world of historic racing.
