Cobras from the Brian Angliss Autokraft era, better known as the AC MkIV, are becoming sought after classic cars nowadays, as collectors realise how good these cars are. Built by AC Cars, with full aluminium body on a tubular chassis, and equiped with a reliable Ford 5,0 Litre V8 engine. A little more then 350 examples are produced between 1982 and 1994, and only a few had the Lightweight specification.

After 1990, the Lightweight was an extra model in the range with the chassisnr prefix "AKL", but before that year customers could order the unofficial Lightweight specification for their MkIV. This car (AK1240) is such a car, and has the shortnose body from new. Dashboard, door panels, roll-over hoop, 15" wheels and Le Mans fuel filler cap are other details only used for Lightweight cars. AK1240 is delivered to Germany to its first owner, and stayed their until we bought the car. European specification MkIVs are difficult to find, and this one has still its German registration. This car is further improved by Cobra specialist ACS in Düsseldorf, and has now a 400 bhp engine with 4 Weber carburettors. It also has AP Racing brakes and a racing clutch. All these improvements makes this Cobra a very impressive sportscar, with a thunderous soundtrack and fantastic performance figures. Due to the low mileage, this car is presented in a very good condition. Bodywork is faultless, engine compartment very clean and it sits on 4 brand new Avon CR6ZZ tyres. This is another fantastic MkIV, and because of the specification and condition a very sound investment. One of the best on the market.
